Peer Review Process

Articles published in Jurnal Otorinolaringologi Kepala dan Leher Indonesia (JOKLI) undergo blind peer review and are managed by the editor through OJS. JOKLI carefully monitors every step of the process, ensuring that all parties involved operate and interact efficiently with the goal of guaranteeing that the published content is of high scientific quality, adheres to ethical research principles, and is released on time.

All manuscripts submitted to JOKLI are first reviewed for completeness and then forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief, who evaluates their suitability for the journal's scope. Additionally, at this initial stage, the Editor-in-Chief monitors submitted materials to detect plagiarism, false data, and overlapping content, even with the assistance of plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts that meet the criteria are then sent by the Editor-in-Chief to reviewers. The journal will reject manuscripts that fall outside its scope, lack originality, and exhibit serious scientific flaws.

During the review process, each manuscript on a related topic will be reviewed by at least two reviewers. The editor's decision will be based on the assessment of the first reviewer if there are only two reviewers. If there are three reviewers, the decision will be made based on the assessment of at least two reviewers. Reviewers assess scientific validity, methodological reliability, relevance, and clarity of presentation. The peer review process is fully documented and recorded at each stage to ensure transparency, honesty, and integrity.

Editorial and reviewer comments are communicated to the author for manuscript revisions, and point-by-point responses are required. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision after considering reviewer feedback and the revised manuscript. Accepted manuscripts will undergo language and format editing before publication. The editorial team reserves the right to reject manuscripts at any stage for ethical or scientific reasons.
