Publication Ethics

This statement is adapted from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to include a code of ethics for Editor in Chief, Editors, Peer reviewers, and Authors. Research articles must adhere to the principles of research ethics as outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki and meet the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

Editor in Chief 

  1. Task: coordinate all journal activities, lead publications, decide on articles for publication, select the managing editor, perform final and pre-press/online editing, and ensure the quality of the process, printing, and publications. 
  1. Providing work guidelines to the editorial board, necessary training, and preparing all members to be informed about current policies and developments. 
  1. Select qualified editorial board members who can actively contribute to the development and management of the publication. 
  1. Evaluating the composition of the editorial board. 
  1. Retract publications of articles containing unreliable information (e.g., due to procedural errors, miscalculations, or data misrepresentation), that have been published elsewhere, contain plagiarism, or do not comply with ethical codes. 
  1. Must guaranty the confidentiality of the submitted manuscript.

Editor 

  1. The editorial team performs the task of evaluating the substance of articles based on research findings and literature studies, which includes originality, coherence of the discussion with the issues raised, up-to-date theory/bibliography, appropriateness of the research methods, accuracy of facts, error calculation and interpretation, and decision-making: whether an article will be accepted, corrections suggested, or rejected.
  1. Must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts. Ensure that all published papers have been reviewed by qualified peer reviewers.
  1. Prioritize the accuracy, completeness, and clarity of research and development results, including editing techniques and the use of appropriate guidelines.
  1. Publish guidelines for authors and update them regularly.
  1. Retract the publication of articles containing unreliable information (e.g., due to procedural errors, miscalculations, or data misrepresentation) that have been published elsewhere or contain plagiarism. 
  1. Complete the work on time and must inform the secretary if they are unable to finish the task.

Peer-Reviewer

  1. Reviewing articles and submitting reviews to the editor for eligibility checks based on scientific principles (data collection methods, author legitimacy, conclusions, etc.). Review the revised article according to the suggested corrections.
  1. Protecting the author's privacy by not sharing the results of corrections, suggestions, and recommendations.
  1. Ensure the principles of truth, novelty, and originality of the article; prioritize the benefits of writing for the development of science, technology, and innovation; and understand the impact of the article on scientific development.
  1. Complete the work on time and must inform the secretary if they are unable to finish the task.
  1. Cannot accept to review manuscripts that could potentially create a conflict of interest with the author.  

Author

  1. Only submit original works.
  1. The material in this article has never been published, and the author has never granted copyright to the article to anyone.
  1. The article material submitted to the JOKLI editor has met the applicable publishing policies.
  1. The article does not contain plagiarism.
  1. The author grants all copyrights and ownership of the article license to JOKLI to reproduce, distribute, sell, reuse, and quote part or all of the article, including compilations or independent publications, in any form of current or future media, including all electronic and digital media, under the protection of applicable laws in the Republic of Indonesia and foreign countries.  
  1. The author grants permission to another party to use the article as if it were the property of JOKLI from the date the article was accepted for publication.
