Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The article is an original work and not plagiarism from any source, whether published or unpublished.
  • The article has not been published previously, nor is it currently in the process of being published, either in print or electronically.
  • All authors have given their approval. Authors must submit the AUTHORS DECLARATION FORM at the time of article submission. The content of this article is entirely the responsibility of the authors.
  • Manuscripts in Microsoft Word format should follow the TEMPLATE available on this journal's page.
  • References using the Vancouver system.
  • In the Research Article, ethical committee approval was obtained and explicitly stated in the research methods, along with the ethical approval letter number. In the Case Report, Patient/Guardian Consent (Template Attached) was included.

Author Guidelines

Jurnal Otorinolaringologi Kepala dan Leher Indonesia (JOKLI) is a scientific publication journal published periodically by the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, Andalas University, Padang. This journal accepts research articles relevant to the field of otorhinolaryngology-head and neck surgery, literature reviews, and case reports, with the following provisions:

  1. Research Article.
    Contains articles on the results of original research in the field of basic or applied/clinical otorhinolaryngology of the head and neck. The format of research articles consists of: Title, Abstract (Indonesian and English), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. (TEMPLATE)
  2. Literature Review.
    This is a review of recent articles on current issues in the field of otorhinolaryngology of the head and neck. The format of the literature review consists of: Title, Abstract (Indonesian and English), Introduction, Literature Review, Conclusion, and References. (TEMPLATE)
  3. Case Report.
    Contains articles about cases in the field of otorhinolaryngology of the head and neck that need attention for dissemination. The format of a case report consists of: Title, Abstract (Indonesian and English), Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. (TEMPLATE)

General Instructions

To avoid duplication, the Indonesian Journal of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck (JOKLI) does not accept articles that have already been published or are currently submitted to other journals, as agreed upon in the statement when submitting the article. The author must ensure that all co-authors have agreed. All articles will be discussed by experts in the relevant field of science (peer review) and the editorial board. Articles needing improvement are returned to the author. Research articles must obtain ethical committee approval or consider accountable ethical aspects of research. Authors must submit the AUTHORS DECLARATION FORM, signed by all authors, at the time of article submission.

Article Writing

Articles should be typed following this TEMPLATE. Articles should be submitted in softcopy format in Microsoft Word.

Title Page

The title page contains the article title, the author's name without title, the author's institutional affiliation, name and correspondence address, telephone number, fax number, and email address. The article title should be a maximum of 25 words.

Abstract and Keywords

Abstracts for research articles, literature reviews, and case reports are written in both Indonesian and English, with a maximum length of 250 words. The article text is typed using the Arial 9 font with 1.0 lines of spacing. The abstracts are concise and clear, following the Introduction, Methods, Results, and Conclusion. Choose 3-5 keywords that can help with index creation.

Article Text

The article text is organized according to the appropriate chapters, namely Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. The article text is typed using the Times New Roman 11 font with 1.0 lines of spacing. The maximum number of pages for one article is 10, including the references.

Table

The table is created sequentially and typed using the Times New Roman 9 font with 1.0 lines of spacing. Each table should be given a brief title. Place explanations and abbreviations in the table notes, not in the table title. The maximum number of tables is 4. The table format only uses horizontal lines (vertical lines are omitted), paying attention to data groups that need to be separated by lines.

Figure

Figure are included in the article. Figure people who may be recognizable or previously published illustrations must be accompanied by written permission. Figures must be numbered sequentially according to their appearance in the text. The maximum number of figures is 4.

Statistical Methods

Explain the statistical methods in detail in the Methods section.

Acknowledgments

Acknowledgments can be expressed to the research contributors.

References

References are written according to Vancouver style and numbered in the order they appear in the article, not alphabetically. List the author's names for a maximum of 6 people; if there are more, write the names of the first 6 people, followed by et al. The number of references is between 20 and 30, with at least 80% coming from the last 10 years.

References were obtained from primary literature, with as little secondary literature as possible. Avoid using abstracts as references. References from articles that will be published by a specific journal should be written as "in press".

Avoid personal communication references unless the information cannot be obtained from public sources. Include the source name, date of communication, written permission, and confirmation of the accuracy of the communication source.

Authors are recommended to use reference management software in writing the citations and references, such as Mendeley® or Zotero®.
